Natalia Gavrilița, who served as Prime Minister in 2021-2023, and Vitalie Lemne, who is the incumbent vice president of the National Commission for Financial Markets, will be proposed for the post of member of the Supervisory Board of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM). The files of the candidates for the two vacancies on the Board were examined in the Parliament’s commission on economy, budget and finance, IPN reports.
“It is very important for us to have a Supervisory Board that would ensure a balance between the independence of the central bank and public interest,” wrote Radu Marian, the commission’s chairman.
A final decision will be taken by Parliament after the candidates are confirmed by the legal commission on appointments and immunities. When they are named, the persons will have one month to give up the incompatible posts and affiliations.
In the immediate period, the commission on economy, budget and finance will put forward two more candidates for member of the NBM’s Supervisory Board.
