Natalia Gavrilița about arguments based on which new Government structure was adopted

The structure of the Government and the subordinate institutions of the past few years, which was adopted at the time of Vlad Plahotniuc, tailored the state power so that this was suitable for a dictatorial state. Unlike that situation, the ministries in the Gavrilița Government were formed according to the priorities of the government program, Prime Minister-Designate Natalia Gavrilița stated from the Parliament’s Rostrum, IPN reports.

“In the government formula in which the decisions were de facto taken in a nightclub by teams paid from the “kulyok”, the number of ministries and the quality of ministers and ministerial teams didn’t matter. The important bills and draft Government decision came to the ministries readymade and were only signed and approved, without questions and without proper analysis. This way, “the mafia government” could be easily merged into one ministry that would sign decisions only. But this does not mean that the mergers brought savings of public finances. This meant exorbitant salaries and hundreds of millions of lei that went to the same firms,” she stated.

According to Natalia Gavrilița, the current Government has other tasks, namely to clear the institutions of corrupt persons and schemes, to do profound reforms, to attract and implement international projects, to contribute to economic growth and the citizens’ wellbeing.

The Prime Minister-Designate said the four ministers will be divided without increasing the number of employees per sector. Each ministry will have to bring a post from a subordinate agency or to remain with the same number of employees as at present. It is now hard to say if the reorganizations will lead to higher or lower costs. The goal is to raise the salaries of employees.

The Cabinet proposed by Natalia Gavrilița will have 13 ministries instead of 9, as until now. Four of the existing ministries will be reformed. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection will be divided into the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research will be separated into the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development will be reorganized into the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and the Ministry of Environment.

The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure will turn into the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development and the Ministry of Economy.
