NAER will propose increasing electricity rates, director

The National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER) will suggest that the rates on the electricity supplied by Gas Natural Fenosa should be 1.85 lei/kWh, up 3.2%, as opposed to the rate of 1.94 lei/kWh requested by the supplier, which is by 0.15 lei or 8.6% higher than the current rate of 1.79 lei/kWh, the Agency’s director Octavian Calmîc informed on Facebook, being quoted by IPN.

According to Octavian Calmîc, Furnizare Energie Electrică Nord asked for a rate of 2.34 lei/kWh, plus 0.42,8 lei or by 22.46% higher than the current rate of 1.91 lei/kWh. But the NAER will propose considering a rate of 2.19 lei/kWh, which is an increase of 14.9%.

The NAER director said the electricity rates in the course of 2018 were decreased from 1.99 lei/kWh to 1.79 lei/kWh for Gas Natural Fenosa Furnizare Energie SRL and from 2.12 lei/kWh to 1.91 lei/kWh for FEE Nord.

Octavian Camîc also said the adjustment of rates is necessary for offsetting the rises in the import prices of electric power and in production costs and the negative financial deviations accumulated in the course of this year and for ensuring the sustainability of power supplies and payments in the sector.

The NAER will have a public meeting at the start of August to consider the approval of the new electricity rates.
