NAER to consider increasing electricity charges

The National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER) comes together for a meeting on Wednesday to consider the requests to increase the electricity rates made by two suppliers. The meeting starts at 10am, IPN reports.

Premier Energy asked for a charge of almost 3.24 lei lei/kWh without VAT, up from the current charge of 2.64 lei/kWh, as from October 1. The company argued the selling price of the electricity received from the central supplier shows the charges should be raised by 34%. It also made reference to the upward trends in the purchase prices of electrical energy.

Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord requested to increase the charge from 2.86 lei/kWh to 3.76 lei/kWh without VAT. The supplier invoked the same reasons for its request.

After the meeting, at 11am, one of the NAER directors will hold a news conference to make public the Agency’s decision.

The last time the NAER increased the electricity charges in June 2022.
