Mykhailo Podolyak about Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station: We must brace for everything

The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station  poses a huge threat as the Russians who are there are poorly trained and do not realize the danger they generate, said the adviser of the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak. According to him, both Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova should be ready for any scenario as Russia is storing ammunitions within the precincts of the power plant, ignoring the fact that this territory is not intended for fighting, IPN reports.

The presidential adviser described President Volodymyr Zelensky’s recent requests to the Western states to ban access to their territory for Russian citizens are correct. He said it is not right not to punish the population of Russia for the indifference with which it treats this war.

“It is a war whose scale is similar to that of World War II. 80% of Russia’s population behaves as if the times are ordinary. We pay with human lives. You pay for this war. Europe pays for this war as the quality of life has worsened, while the population of Russia behaves as usual. They go on vacation and tell about Russia’s grandeur. Maybe these 80% of Russia’s population should remain isolated so that they later ask Putin why they suffer?” Mykhailo Podolyak stated in an interview with the public TV channel Moldova 1.

At the same time, the presidential adviser described the situation around the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station as very dangerous. He noted that the station is in the hands of inexperienced people who do not realize that they can cause a nuclear catastrophe. As long as this plant is under the Russians’ control, both Ukraine and Moldova should brace for the gloomiest scenario.

“Over the past two weeks, the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station has been mined. Munitions are being stored there. Furthermore, Nikopol town is shelled from the nuclear station’s territory. There are now no trained people at the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Those people do not realize what is dangerous and what is not. Russia does not allow Ukrainian experts who know very well how this plant works to inspect the station. The intellectual level of the members of the Russian army is very low. These are poorly trained people who do not understand what risks they generate by their actions. They do not know nuclear physics. I’m glad that the Government in Chisinau realizes all the risks and threats. We are also preparing the people. We realize that the greater is Russia’s failure on the battlefield, the harsher is the civil population hit. Therefore, it is normal to get ready for everything,” said the Ukrainian official.

Two days ago, Romania donated a lot of over 1 million pills of potassium iodide to the Republic of Moldova. The pills will be distributed by the National Public Health Agency to national public health centers on the instruction of the Commission for Exceptional Situations.
