My Moldova NGO urges people to reject politicians’ manipulations

The NGO “My Moldova” urges people to reject being manipulated by the politicians who stand behind protest actions and provocations. The reaction comes after the association members traveled to Balti at the invitation of participants in the protests on August 5. The latter complained that although they weren’t involved in violent actions, they were still fined, Info-Prim Neo reports. “A part of our people decided to organize a unionist march in Balti. Others decided to organize a counter-demonstration. What’s worse is that behind both sides stand our politicians with neckties as if dog owners”, said on Tuesday, September 25, Fiodor Ghelici, leader of “My Moldova” Association. He said that all those who participated in the actions on August 5 were fined. Now, the truth is wanted. Ghelici claims that one of the law enforcement agents in Balti told him that the fines were applied at the command of the authorities in Chisinau. According to Ghelici, none of the politicians reacted after those events. Even the Moldovan President, who is a jurist, didn’t assess the situation in any way and didn’t intervene. “People will hate each other 20 more years, because of the policy promoted by some. Either pro-Romanian or pro-Russian, they divide society by linguistic, ethnic or national criteria”, said the head of “My Moldova” Association. In his opinion, the hostile reactions in society are generated by authorities. “It’s important for people to understand that it doesn’t matter whether you are an official or an ordinary citizen. Criminal charges should be laid against anyone promoting a policy of aggression and division.” Fiodor Ghelici says that every person must analyze and understand who manipulates society and distracts the public attention from society’s really important problems. Association member Pavel Gavrilov said that people are deliberately provoked to participate in actions with severe consequences. He thinks that authorities are promoting a policy of dividing society. “The ideas and calls to hate are forced into young people’s minds. Politicians exploit the fact that the youth don’t know the historical truth. Moldova will become a strong state only if acknowledges that all the ethnic groups on its territory are supported by the state”, he said. Another member association, Igor Caldare, said that representatives of ethnic groups must show tolerance towards each other. “One of the great thinkers said: when one has nothing to be proud of, he is proud of his national identity. Let’s be proud of building a flourishing country and of being tolerant to each other, regardless of sex, nationality, skin color or anything else”, he suggested. As a result of the clashes during the Unionist March organized in Balti on August 5, 17 peoples are under criminal investigation. 150 other people have paid fines of 100,000 lei overall.
