The Placement Center for Elderly People and Persons with Disabilities of Chisinau accommodates 163 persons. Tamara Lungu has stayed there for a year. Her children who are abroad took her there. The woman said that initially she cried and wanted to leave, but she managed to integrate and make friends in time and now cannot imagine living elsewhere, IPN reports.

The woman is from a village of Anenii Noi district. Her children who live abroad told her she will die if she remains alone in the village. At the center she found a lot of love and attention on the part of employees and mates. She is engaged in different activities and does not have time to idle.

Ilie Țihon, 79, was a teacher. He has lived at the Center for about 20 years. As he is good at doing things, he makes all the wallpapers on health and takes part in all the staged artistic performances. He plays the flute and says life is nice when it is harder too and it deserves being lived appropriately.

Nadejda Moroi found refuge at the Center from her aggressive husband. She has lived there for 12 years and likes a lot to crochet and to make other things by hand. She is glad when volunteers come on visits and she talks to them or learns something together with them.

The Center’s director Gheorghe Bejenari said the Center is a residential institution with free maintenance regime. Dancing, canto, handmade, crocheting and other kinds of workshops are held there. The institution also has a library.

To be accepted to the Center, the person must file an application to the Social Assistance Division of the district where they live and this is transmitted to the National Social Assistance Agency.

The Center has 217 places. Persons without legal maintainers are lodged here on a temporary or a permanent basis . The institution provides complete maintenance, medical and social assistance.

There were 32 long-term placement centers, old people’s homes and centers for persons with disabilities in Moldova on January 1, 2018. Under the law on state social insurance pensions, the persons who stay at social centers get 25% of their pension, while 75% is directed to the service provider.
