Musicians from both banks of the Nistru invite to classical music concert

Young musicians from both banks of the Nistru River give a classical music concert at the National Philharmonic Orchestra “Sergey Lunkevich” in the evening of November 8, starting at 6pm, IPN reports.

The concert “Charm of Great Tchaikovsky’s Music” forms part of the series of 10 musical performances organized during a year on both banks of the Nistru by the Chisinau Center for Cooperation and Partnership and the Tiraspol Palace of the Republic, with the assistance of the EU – UNDP Program “Support to Confidence Building Measures”.

According to a press release of UNDP Moldova, laureates of international contests, accompanied by the Philharmonic’s Symphonic Orchestra, will perform works by composer Tchaikovsky in a new way.

Wicher Slagter, head of the Political and Economic Section of the EU Delegation to Moldova, said the European Union supports projects aimed at building confidence between the people who live on the banks of the Nistru. “There is no better method of bringing people closer than music. Music does not know age limits and borders,” he stated.

Another six cultural performances will be given in Chisinau, Rybnitsa, Tiraspol and Bender during the next six months. They will involve over 100 children and young people and 400 professors and professional musicians from both banks of the Nistru.
