On the 15th edition of the European Night of Museums held on May 18, the museums from all over the country will have a varied cultural program aimed at attracting as many visitors as possible. The events will take place between 10am and 11:30pm. Entrance will be free of charge, except for some of the exhibitions, IPN reports.
According to Minister of Education ,Culture and Research Monica Babuc, during the past few years the Night of Museums has been celebrated nicely and with results for the national culture, including museography. The museums have become complex and interactive institutions, which is very important.
Director of the National Museum of History of Moldova Eugen Sava said this year the museum will wait for visitors of the permanent exhibition “History and civilization” and the exhibit “Innovatic Fest Roboshow”. There will be mounted a fashion and style exhibition and an exhibition of golden and silver vestiges. At midday, there will be held a book launch entitled “Paces of antique jewelry from the collections of the National Museum of History”. Among other events that will be staged at the museum are a chamber music concert, a film screening and different workshops for children and adults. A nocturnal concert will be held in the museum’s courtyard starting at 8:30pm.
National Museum of Arts director Tudor Zbârnea said they invite to the temporary exhibition entitled “International Painting Biennial Chisinau 2019”, which is a movement to promote young artists. Together with “Eugene Ionesco” Theater, they will stage the game “Put the masks down!” starting at 10am. The winners will receive tickets to the theater. Those interested could have a henna painting made on their body in the museum’s hall.
Petru Vicol, director of the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, said they will mount three exhibitions on May 18, one of which will include over 1,000 butterflies of different colors and sizes. A theater program intended for children will be presented in the museum’s courtyard. A program of traditional music and a light show will start at 8m.
To ensure the smooth running of the European Night of Museums, the public transport during 6pm and 12 noon will be diverted from 31 August 1989 St onto the streets Mitropolit G. Bănulescu – Bodoni, A. Pushkin and others. The private units of transport will not have access to the area.
The National Register of Museum includes 124 museums, 97 of which are managed by the local authorities, seven by the Ministry of Education ,Culture and Research, while five are private museums.
