The parental home of poet Grigore Vieru in Pererita village of Briceni district was restored and transformed into a museum-house. On the occasion of its inauguration on August 31, artists and students from the village staged an artistic program with performances of poems and music on the verses of Grigore Vieru. In the house’s yard, there was unveiled the bard’s bust, while a group of priests held a service, IPN reports.
Attending the event, Head of Parliament Andrian Candu said he highly appreciates the literary works left by Grigore Vieru, namely his poems full of sensibility for the language, nation and mother, which are the first verses learned by the children. He offered a painting showing Grigore Vieru, made by Leonid Popescu, as a present to the museum-house.
The museum-house “Grigore Vieru” was inaugurated on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture in the year when the poet would have turned 80. Minister of Culture Monica Babuc said the opening of the museum represents an act of high appreciation of the poet’s works and is aimed at putting to good use the inheritance left by the bard.
An exhibition of works by Grigore Vieru, which contains volumes of poems, manuscripts, photos, translations and literary criticism, was mounted for the public on the same occasion.
