An inhabitant of Chisinau aged 24 was sentenced to 12 years in a closed-type jail for beating to death a workmate, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, last March the young man, being under the influence of alcohol on the territory of a sheepfold in Loganesti village of Hancesti district where he worked, started to quarrel with a workmate and then hit his with a piece of wood. The latter died in the hospital.

The prosecutors examined a number of versions, including the statements of a witness, who said that the victim fell from height. The young man surrendered himself to the police, saying he has nightmares about the one whom he killed and cannot live with such a burden.
