Murder suspect Dorin Stratulat to be extradited from Romania today

The son of former police officer Ion Stratulat, who was shot dead in 2011, Dorin Stratulat, the nephew of general Nicolae Alexei, will be extradited from Romania today. He is accused of shooting dead a young man not far from Zubrești village of Strășeni district on the night of August 9, IPN reports.

The General Police Inspectorate said that Dorin Stratulat, 24, was arrested in Romania on August 24. On October 12, the High Court of Cassation and Justice of Romania decided to uphold the sentence passed by the Bucharest Court of Appeal on September 20, 2022, by which the request to extradite Dorin Stratulat made by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Moldova was accepted.

The victim, a 29-year-old man, was found shot dead in a wood after his mother reported him missing one day earlier. The man had three bullets in his rib cage.

The press reported that the victim and the murder suspect took part in a party in a house situated in a wood in Zubrești. The house allegedly belongs to Ion Stratulat’s family. The party involved a number of young people and the victim, the son of an agricultural leader from Rezina district, was among them. The latter and the host later remained alone together with two girls. The 29-year-old man was shot from his own gun. The victim’s car and the gun were found not far from the house.
