Mural celebrating courage and passion of Olympians inaugurated in central Chisinau

The Moldovan athletes who will contend in the 2024 Paris Olympics put their names on a mural in the center of the capital city. The painting will be not only symbolic, but will serve as an impulse to support the national Olympic team and to prove that everyone supports the athletes, president of the National Olympic and Sports Committee Nicolae Juravschi stated in the inauguration of the painting ”Olympic Dream”. The message of support for the Olympic team will also be placed on a number of public transport units, IPN reports.

From July 26 to August 11, the capital of France will be gripped by Olympic fever. “We are now at the qualifying stage. Basically, we have fourteen athletes. In the near future, we will have other qualifications and are to receive confirmation from international federations for other athletes. It is a very pleasant thing for our country,” said the president of the National Olympic and Sports Committee.

Mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban said that the inauguration of such a painting is a gesture of encouragement and solidarity towards athletes who will participate in the Olympic Games. He voiced hope that each of the athletes will be able to represent the country and themselves at an appropriate level. The mayor added that a large-scale murals project is being prepared, together with civil society, the private sector, various painters, both professional and amateur ones.

The chief of the President’s staff Adrian Băluțel said it is very good that in Moldova there is a place where we can immortalize the effort of Moldovan sportspersons and which will simultaneously be a symbol for the future generations to get involved in the Olympic movement and do sports. “As we approach the Olympic cycle, we are as never before ready to support the efforts of our athletes. We bring them closer to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games more prepared than ever, in terms of equipment, resources allocated for athletes, support for them,” stated Adrian Băluțel, noting that the Republic of Moldova is proud of them and will wait for them to come home, firstly without trauma and secondly with the best results.

Canoeist Daniela Cociu, who qualified for the Paris Olympics, said that the experience of signing her name on this mural, at height, was a unique one. She is happy and proud that changes are being made to promote sports in Moldova. Another athlete, Anna Dulce, noted that she left a mark on this mural, which is an important thing for her.

In partnership with the National Olympic and Sports Committee, the City Hall initiated a campaign to promote the Paris 2024 Olympic Team on three trolleybuses and two buses entitled “Support the Olympic Team!”. The campaign to promote and support the Olympic athletes will take place between May 24 and September 8, 2024.
