Chisinau’s city hall would need to sink 7 million lei from the municipal budget for the repairs and rearrangement of the public transport stops in the capital, if they were to fall under city management. Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca told Info-Prim Neo that the stops are where they are now because of the people’s recklessness, and the City Hall can’t intervene to repair them because the trial in which the original owner is involved isn’t over. Simion Roman, head of the public amenities division, said that 200 lei are allotted monthly for cleaning a public transport stop. The 300 stops have been built by the “EPA Media SRL” company following an auction that it had won in January 2007. The agreement with the City Hall authorized the company to place advertisement panels and devices on the bus stops throughout Chisinau. However the company declared insolvency 2 years ago and the creditors’ committee decided to sell the advertisement places in order to recover their investments, an intention which ended unsuccessfully. “EPA Media SRL” is currently involved in a litigation.
