The Chisinau City Hall will continue this year to renovate the streets in the capital. Renovation works will take place on the thoroughfares in downtown Chisinau, on main streets in districts and at the entrance to the city. Interim mayor Vasile Ursu sought from the officials within the local administration at Monday’s sitting to shortly draw up a list of streets and a schedule for performing the renovation works for this year. He mentioned about 70 mln lei will be invested in the renovation of streets. As Ursu says, in spring, within one month, the specialised services will also perform works for laying asphalt on pits, stating that these works will be carried out only to avoid accidental situations in traffic. For the rest of the warm period of the year, the municipality efforts will aim at renovating the streets, which, in mayor’s opinion, is less expensive than laying asphalt on pits. “There were spent about 70-90 mln lei from the local budget annually for maintaining the roads, but renovations were performed on the same streets each year”, interim mayor said, trusting that after the thorough renovations are done, road workers’ intervention will not be needed several years. At the same time, interim mayor requested the City Hall’s services to continue the work at refitting the districts in the municipality: to install benches, public illumination, to refit the playgrounds, landfill sites, to renovate sidewalks and streets inside the districts etc. Last year, in order to renovate the streets in Chisinau there were used financial means from the state budget, in the amount of about 70 mln lei. Ursu mentioned that the renovations of 16 streets in the centre of capital were completed last year. This year there will be carried out works to renovate and refit the sidewalks along the repaired streets.
