Municipality will continue to refit districts in winter
The City Hall will carry on activities for fitting out the capital’s districts, such as illumination and bench installing, in the cold season as well.
This order was given by the interim mayor Vasile Ursu at the beginning of the week. According to him, all the expenses related to the public works carried out this year for fitting out the districts will be fully covered by the state budget, as the central authorities promised.
Vasile Ursu said that the information on the total sum spent in this respect is not available yet, but disclosed that the public illumination required MDL 10 mln, and 7-8 mln were spent to install benches and build playgrounds.
The municipality promised to fit out 10 model-districts in 2006 throughout the city. This number of districts was suggested by President Voronin. In 2005, the City Hall has performed public works in 5 districts funded by the local budget. Short supply of public money in 2006 forced the municipality to give up repairing roofs and engineering networks. City Hall officials claim that these works should be done by the dwellers’ associations, because the owners of flats ought to keep up the state of the blocks they live in.
According to Tudor Garbu, the interim mayor’s counselor, MDL 47 mln are planned for fitting out the capital’s districts, though 136 mln are required.
