The Chisinau City Council increased the allotments for daily meals in boarding and special schools, nursing and residential kindergartens by 10 lei per child. Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, head of the Chisinau Department of education, youth and sport, told Info-Prim Neo that along the funding from the state budget, the Chisinau Municipal Council allotted nearly 9 million lei for children’s meals. The daily ration cost in those institutions was 26 lei. With the Municipality’s decision, the cost of daily meals will increase to 36 lei. In other educational institutions the additions vary between 4 and 8 lei. The Chisinau City Hall allotted 3 million lei for equipping gyms in schools. A tender contest in this respect will be announced soon. The schools will be offered vaulting horses, exercise mats, parallel bars and other equipment. “These things are pretty expensive and schools can’t afford it”, said Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb. This year, the Municipality allotted 40% of budget expenses, or 932 million lei for the needs of the educational system in Chisinau.
