The educational institutions in Chisinau are urged to use the artificial fir trees utilized the previous years so as to save money. The collection of funds for presents and for festivities is banned. In the weekly meeting of officials of municipal services, the head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Andrei Pavaloi said the managers of educational institutions were advised to choose employees of the institution or parents for the role of Santa Claus if this is possible so as to avoid incurring additional costs for hiring actors, IPN reports.

Mayor general Ion Ceban said that over 32,000 sweet presents will be offered to children in kindergartens on the occasion of the winter holidays. The General Division of Education, Youth and Sport purchased candies for children from 132 preschools of Chisinau. The candies will be distributed to children during the holiday performances that are usually staged in kindergartens before the New Year. It is for the fifth consecutive year that the municipality offers candidates to children and this already became a nice tradition.

The Chisinau City Hall bans any form of collection of funds for presents. The candidates bought by the municipality are given to children free.
