A number of garbage bins were removed from Stephan the Great Blvd. of Chisinau. They were set up several years ago by a company that planned to place advertisements on them, but gave up in a period. The bins became damaged, but the company no longer takes care of them.
Contacted by IPN, the head of the General Public Amenities Division Petru Gontea said that a part of the garbage bins put on the main artery of Chisinau were taken away because they were in a bad state. The Division is looking for solutions to find money and replace all the garbage bins on Stephan the Great Blvd. so that they are the same throughout the street. A project was designed, but the costs are rather high. Besides investments in installation, costs will be incurred for collecting the waste and cleaning up the area.
“We need 3 million lei to set up garbage bins on all the streets of Chisinau and another 3 million lei to manage them during a year,” stated Petru Gontea.
The bins removed from Stefan cel Mare Blvd will be temporarily substituted by other bins that were taken from streets where there is collected less waste.
