The municipal route administrators will have to weekly submit proposals concerning the modification of the routes that overlap the bus ands trolleybus routers. In the future, the minibuses will run only on the outskirts and in the suburbs, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the January 28 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca said that the minibuses have worked for 10 years and it’s time to replace them with such high-capacity units of transport as trolleybuses and buses. As the municipality purchased 100 new trolleybuses and intends to assemble another 100 trolleybuses, the minibuses whose routes overlap the bus and trolleybus routes will be gradually replaced. “Chisinau must have high-capacity transport. On all the municipal routes, priority will be given to buses and trolleybuses, while the minibuses will run in the suburbs and, possibly, from the suburbs to the center of the city. I asked the route administrators to weekly propose changes to the routes so that the passengers are announced on time. Even if the carriers stage strikes, there are international obligations that must be fulfilled. It is not only the City Hall’s wish,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. In the municipality of Chisinau there are 67 minibus routes.
