The municipality of Chisinau is exploring the possibility of limiting the utilization of mobile phones in schools and recreation places in the capital city. The proposal to offer discounts to those who do not use mobile phones while in public eating places is examined together with representatives of the hospitality industry, mayor Ion Ceban posted on social media.

“I asked my colleagues to think up interactive programs to motivate the children, teens, young people to abandon online games and communication through phones and to switch over to real interaction, relations between mates, parents-children, children-teachers, which is very important for their multilateral development,” said the mayor, being quoted by IPN.

The Education Division, together with the Municipal Youth Center, will launch a competition of ideas. All the ingenious ideas, concepts and solutions will be incorporated into a municipal program.

Among the examined options, the mayor gave the example of trips to different enterprises or lessons in the open air, communication with professionals from different areas, personal development activities and other activities that are of interest to young people.

“The long use of gadgets can affect the emotional state and intellectual development level of everyone. Let’s choose the reality instead of the virtual world!” said Ion Ceban.
