An auctions committee from the Chisinau City Hall has held at the beginning of the last week a meeting in which 6 offers of snow-clearing machines were presented. Offers came from six specialized companies from several countries, including Russia, Belarus, Germany and Switzerland as well as from economic agents from the Republic of Moldova. The head of the General Department for housing issues and within the local administration, Mihai Solcan declared for Info-Prim Neo that the auction committee members are heads of departments from the Chisinau City Hall, councilors, and the president of the committee is the interim mayor Vasile Ursu. The auctions committee is currently examining the offers in order to choose the winner. According to Solcan, the municipality requested financial aid from the government for the snow-clearing vehicles from Chisinau, as the acquisition is a considerable one and the municipal budget was not meant to handle such transactions. The City Hall intends to buy 50-60 units of snow-clearing vehicles from specialized companies of the Western Europe. Previously, municipal experts have visited the European companies in order to choose the most competitive machines from the price-quality point of view. The local authorities wish to buy machines that can be used as snow-clearing vehicles in winter and cleaning vehicles during summer. The City Hall doesn’t have the required snow-clearing machines, and the in cleaning process 500 persons are employed, instead of 1150 required, Solcan mentioned, and added that if performing vehicles are bought, supplementary employees will not be needed.
