The chief health officer of Chisinau Boris Gîlca said that a drug shortage is possible in connection with the war in Ukraine. Most of the pharmaceutical products, especially perfusion solutions and medicines, were primarily supplied through the port in Odessa. For their part, the central authorities said the supplies of medicines are more than enough, IPN reports.
In the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services, Boris Gîlca said the data of the Ministry of Health, including the figures presented at the meeting of the Focal Point, show that the supplies of drugs in the Republic of Moldova are enough for a month.
“We anticipate a drug crisis and therefore call on the central authorities, the Government and the Ministry of Health, to allow the managers of health institutions, especially from the municipality as the pressure here is expected to be the greatest, to immediately purchase medicines through simplified procedures, by derogation from the law on the procurement of medicines, so as to purchase pharmaceuticals that can be yet bought,” stated the chief health officer.
The Government noted the supplies of drugs are more than enough and more medicines and equipment will be received the next few days.
