A new branch of the Municipal Youth Center was opened at 3 Ghidighic St in Buiucani district of Chisinau on June 23. This is a youth-friendly multifunctional center where adolescents will develop, will study and will do volunteer work. The center aims to unite young people from Chisinau and from Ukraine and to strengthen the relations between the teens and the municipality, mayor general Ion Ceban stated in the inaugural event, IPN reports.
The mayor said the center is situated in a park with recreational areas and sports grounds and this place is attractive to young people. “I would like friendly relations to be established between the executive – the Chisinau City Hall – the Buiucani district head’s office, the subdivisions of the City Hall, primarily the Division of Education, Youth and Sport, the managers of the institutions situated nearby,” stated the official.
“We will work daily for the center to be youth-friendly. We will definitely do great things for the people as the youth sector in Chisinau changed a lot in the recent past and this is only the beginning,” said the director of the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center Petru Grecu.
Andrei Pavaloi, deputy head of the Division of Education, Youth and Sport, spoke about the importance of the municipal sociological poll aimed at identifying the needs of the youth that was carried out by the team of the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center. “Such polls will be conducted periodically so as to identify young people’s wishes and to offer them what they want, not what we consider it is good for them. This is very important,” he noted.
The Municipal Youth Center opened in Buiucani was outfitted as part of a project implemented by the “Pro Bono” Information and Resource Center in partnership with the Chisinau City Hall and the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center, with financial support from UNICEF Moldova.
