As many as 171 persons, including students with good academic standing, results in sport and arts and labor veterans in different fields, received municipal merit awards that are traditionally presented by the City Hall before the Day of Chisinau, IPN reports.

The award this year was 1,500 lei. The laureates of municipal merit awards 2017 included 72 secondary school students, 40 students of arts schools and 18 labor veterans, namely teachers, researchers, people of culture and specialists in education, sport and medicine.

The municipal merit awards started to be conferred in 1996. The prize money this year was 185,000 lei.
