The best 150 students from Chisinau municipality and 20 elderly persons who worked in municipal institutions from different areas received the Municipal Merit Award 2015. The 19th award ceremony was held at the Organ Hall on October 13, IPN reports.
Valentina Cujba, deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, said the awarded students won the first, second and third places at international and national Olympiads and the first place at the municipal Olympiads. The awarded sportspersons achieved results at international and national competitions. Among the awardees are elderly persons, such as teachers, scientists, doctors, athletes and musicians. “We have many extraordinary children and remarkable personalities and this is a method of supporting them,” she stated.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said that this award ceremony prepares the holiday atmosphere for tomorrow, when it is celebrated the Day of Chisinau. The number of awardees increases every year and it would be nice if this figure equals the number of years reached by Chisinau since its foundation. By such personalities as the awardees of the municipality of Chisinau, the whole country has a future.
Among the awardees are students of the lyceums “Orizont”, “Ion Creanga”, “Prometeu-Prim”, “Mihai Viteazul”, “Alexandr Pushkin”, “Gheorghe Asachi” and “Spiru Haret”, the sports schools No. 7, No. 8, No. 3, No. 13 and “Speranta” and teachers, researches and labor veterans of science, culture, education and other areas.
The Municipal Merit Award has been conferred since 1996. Its value this year is 1,500 lei.
