Municipal Council to examine possibility of increasing heat tariff

Chisinau Municipal Council is to examine and approve at Tuesday’s session (November 28) the item regarding the economic-financial situation in “Termocom” enterprise. The councilors could also examine the issue concerning the increase in tariff for heat supply. Preliminary calculations of “Termocom” JSC attest that the tariff for supplying one G-calorie should be increased from 233 to 500 lei. Interim mayor Vasile Ursu mentioned at City Hall’s session held on Monday November 27 that the likely increase in tariff on heat will not affect the socially unprivileged people, as the enterprise will propose to establish compensations that will be covered by the state and local budget. Ursu warned the enterprise’s leadership that the examination of this item at the CMC will be difficult if it does not present the real estimation of the components included in the cost of a G-calorie. According to interim, the new tariff should not include the sums intended for obtaining profit, as, CMC as main shareholder, “Termocom” should not “get profit exploiting Chisinau residents”. At the same time, the cost of the G-calorie should include only the real expenses for heat supply, without financial previsions for modernizing the networks. In mayor’s opinion these expenses have to be covered by the state and local budget, as it is made in most of countries in the world, where the authorities are managing enterprises providing public services.
