Municipal Council renders justice to a group of Chisinau residents
A group of residents from Rascani district of the capital city obtained the annulment of a Chisinau City Hall decision, dating 1997, which allotted to “Scana” Company a plot for construction on Petru Rares Street.
The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) voted on May 3 for admitting the appeal of the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office against the decision of the City Hall. The Prosecutor Office’s appeal has been made after the examination of the petitions signed by the inhabitants of the zone, who complained that the construction company had started the demolition works without having the agreement of the majority of inhabitants of the plot allocated by the City Hall. The residents are disturbed by the fact that the demolition works operated in their neighbourhood damage their own houses too.
Deputy Chairman of the Architecture, Urbanism and Land Relations General Department, Nicolae Craciun stated within the CMC session that the respective company intends to build a multi-storied block on the mentioned plot, where there are several one-storied houses at the moment, which were to be demolished. However, several owners of these houses haven’t agreed with the company on the compensations which were to be paid to them or on offering them another living space. Although several owners have accepted the offer, the majority did not agree to be compensated with only 1,000 Euro per 1 sq m.
The interim pretor of the Rascani district, Reghina Apostolov, stated during the CMC session that, at present, there 5 similar conflicts in the same region, and about 30 private houses are affected by demolition works and constructions taking place in their neighbourhood. According to the pretor, CMC has to support the inhabitants in stopping the illegalities committed by the construction companies.
The pretor has been supported by the Councillor Oleg Cernei, who affirmed that CMC and the City Hall has to defend the interests of the Chisinau inhabitants, and the construction company can seek justice in the court.
