Municipal Council is interested in international projects financed by the EU
Chisinau Municipal Council approved in its Tuesday’s session, October 12, signing of the Collaboration agreement with Vilnius, Lithuania, on the basis of which, Chisinau could benefit from several international projects financed by the EU.
Ion Capatina, head of the External relations and European cooperation Department, part of the Mayoralty of the Chisinau municipality, declared that, by signing this agreement a legal basis will be created for collaboration between the sides as part of the projects of good neighborhood with EU. „Without such an agreement Chisinau’s participation in projects is impossible”, Capatina affirmed.
Capatina’s declarations persuaded even the communist councilors that the agreement is necessary. Communists requested that the list of the agreements with other cities of the world signed by the mayoralty is presented, and their benefits proved. The Councilor representing “Ravnopravie” party, Valeri Climenco, asked whether Chisinau signed any agreement with Tbilisi as long as the authorities from Chisinau and the Georgian ones fight together against Moscow which applied bans on wine imports.
The independent councilor, Igor Crapivca, declared that the municipality of Chisinau should learn from the experience of Vilnius municipality, especially in what concerns the cooperation with European structures. According to him, since January 1, at a time with the adherence of Romania to the EU, R. of Moldova will obtain the statute of a neighboring state with EU and will benefit from projects of good neighborhood with EU, on the basis of which “ financial resources are accorded as grants or credits with low interest rate”. Chisinau needs the experience of the Baltic state in order to avoid their errors when collaborating with the EU and for finding prompt and qualitative solutions to solve the municipality’s problems, mentioned Crapivca.
Considering these, MCC also approved the signing of the agreement of collaboration with the Polish Province of Lubuskie.
