Municipal Council allots MDL 2 mln for designing Valea Morilor resort zone
The Chisinau Municipal Council decided on May 3 to allot 2 million lei to the Capital Constructions Division for expenses related to the designing works of the “Valea Morilor” resort zone.
Initially, the draft decision planned only one million lei; however it was doubled at the request of a number of municipal councillors.
At the end of April, the Government was requested by the head of state to work out within two weeks the detailed concept on refitting the future leisure zone Valea Morilor. The document is to be discussed on May 10, at a special meeting. According to the authorities, the lakebed of the Valea Morilor Lake is due to be cleaned up and the banks restored by April 2008.
The residential and resort zone Valea Morilor located in Chisinau has been paid special attention by the central authorities since September 2006, when President Voronin convened a special meeting with decision-making persons from the Government. The date of the meeting held at the Presidency coincided with the publishing in “The Official Monitor of Moldova” of a Government Decision on declaring a part of the territory of Valea Morilor Park as exclusive state property. Shortly after that, the project on the reconstruction of Valea Morilor Lake was approved via a Government Decision, being defined as a prime importance public project related to the development of the municipality of Chisinau for 2007.
According to the legislation, this zone has the status of protected zone, where no economic activity damaging the ecologic situation is admitted.
Valea Morilor Lake residential zone is home to many politicians, statesmen and rich people.
