Municipal Council accepts three candidates for pretors
The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) took note of the appointment by the interim mayor Veceslav Iordan of three interim district pretors without making any remarks upon the appointed persons.
Veaceslav Iordan mentioned that according to the Law on public administration, the general mayor appoints a pretor in each district after consulting the municipal council. Several councillors mentioned that the mayor should appoint them for a longer period, so that the people living there would know there are persons in charge in that region.
On Monday, March 5, Iordan signed an ordinance according to which Petru Budurin was appointed as interim pretor in Centru district, and Alexandru Gorea in Buiucani. Earlier, both of them held the positions of deputy pretors. Municipal councillor of the communist faction Reghina Apostolov was designated as interim pretor in Rascani district.
The pretors of the five district offices in the capital were appointed in 2003 by the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), in compliance with the legislation in force. At that time, Centru district was headed by Leonid Bujor, Rascani district – by Elena Beleacov, Buiucani – by Valeriu Nemerenco, Ciocana – by Ion Gabura and Botanica – by Vladimir Guritenco.
Leonid Bujor, who became MP in 2005, was replaced with the communist councillor Edward Iaroszewski, who, in short time, was dismissed. Afterwards, Elena Beleacov resigned and Valeriu Nemerenco was sacked by CMC.
