The municipal cleanup operator “Autosalubritate” will contract services to sort the solid waste gathered daily in the capital city for a period of five years. The integrated waste management system is to be optimized, as the Chisinau Municipal Council decided, IPN reports.
The move will enable the company to fulfill the Law Waste provisions obliging the municipal cleanup operator to sort and recycle waste collected from waste storage platforms in the city, with a target of 30% being set. The volume of waste stored at the waste dump in Țânțăreni will be this way reduced and waste sorting culture and circular economy will be developed.
The Council recently adopted a decision to build an active disintegration system at the temporary waste dump on Uzinelor St in Ciocana district, which was conserved in 2017. This will enable to produce electricity for the waste dump’s facilities, such as buildings and waste treatment and transfer stations. The additional amount can be supplied into the national electricity grid.
Feasibility studies showed that active disintegration at the waste dump in Ciocana during about 12 years is enough to eliminate the noxious pollutants emitted into the atmosphere. The works to build the active disintegration and electricity generation system will be covered by the business entity that is to be chosen at a tender contest.
