The Construction, architecture and land resources will work on refreshing the Monument Register for monuments with national and municipal importance. According to the interim head of the General Culture Department, Leonid Gorceac, this register must be updated every 3 years, yet the last information was gathered in 1995. The official mentioned that the necessity to refresh the register lies in the fact that over the last few years several monuments were dismantled, and this fact causes conflict between the owners, who require removing their sites from the register, and the municipal authorities that do not know the real situation of the building, previously considered a monument of national or municipal importance. The mentioned committee must also add up the costs of the analysis of monuments from the municipal. According to Gorceac, the estimation could prove considerable for the local budget. In the former register of monuments with national or municipal importance there were approximately 900 sites included. According to the cited source, at present there are only 800 sites worthy of the status of national monument. In the case of monuments with national and municipal importance, the owner cannot dismantle the building and must renew the building according to historical and architectural standards.
