Municipal authorities ask directors of marketplaces to contribute to settlement of patent issue

Interim mayor Veaceslav Iordan requests from the market directors in Chisinau to actively involve in implementing the first stage of the Law on annulment of entrepreneur patent. Officials from the Government and Ministry of Economy and Commerce met with the market directors in Chisinau on Wednesday, February 14. As Iordan says, the reason for this meeting would be the police’s information that certain market directors in Chisinau would have instigated patentees to protest. The municipal administration thinks that namely the market directors are the persons who can be useful in implementing the new amendments to the Law on patent-based activity. They have the role to inform the citizens about the way they can register their activity again. Attending the meeting, Minister of Economy and Commerce Igor Dodon mentioned that the patent-based entrepreneurship is detrimental to the national economy on the whole, and to the municipal budget in particular. As minister says, the Government has created all the necessary conditions so that patent holders can register their activity again. This meeting was organised after thousands of citizens had protested earlier this week against the power’s decisions to leave them without workplaces after annulling the entrepreneur patent. As from 1 January 2007, the Law bans patent-based entrepreneurship in passengers and cargo transportation, cultivation and sale of flowers, production and sale of lime, furniture and household goods. 43 markets that offer about 21000 workplaces are operating in Chisinau.
