The ICT Ministry presented the program on transition to terrestrial digital television to the Government. Under the program, there will be built three digital television networks (multiplex) with national coverage and 21 networks with regional coverage, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Ministry, this transition will enable to increase the number of programs received on Moldova’s territory to 15 at the first stage and to 45 at the end of the program. The quality of the image will be significantly improved. The first digital television network (Multiplex A) will be put into operation in the second quarter of 2014. The license for creating the first digital multiplex with national coverage will be offered free, at an open contest. The major goal of the program is to narrow the digital gap between the rural areas and the urban ones as regards access to TV program services. Moldova pledged to finish the transition to terrestrial digital television not later than June 16, 2015.
