A multifunctional sports arena, called the Chisinau Arena, will be built in the capital city based on a public-private partnership. In the weekly meeting of the Democratic Party on March 13, the concept of the construction was presented and discussed. The construction works are to last for a year, IPN reports.
Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu said he had discussions with a number of potential investors. Some of these already expressed interest in developing such a project in Moldova. An international tender contest will be held to choose the firm that will construct the arena.
The Chisinau Arena will have a seating capacity of at most 5,000 and up to 1,200 parking places and will host different sports events, conferences, exhibitions and concerts. It will include an Olympic swimming pool, tennis courts, spa and fitness areas. The Chisinau Arena will be situated in Stauceni commune of Chisinau municipality and will be 10 hectares in area.
