Mud drying equipment installed at Chisinau water treatment station

The technical equipment for drying the mud at the Chisinau water treatment station is being set up, the City Hall’s Public Affairs Division has announced. Geo-tubes are being installed on mud platforms. They will separate the residues from the water. The mud that will accumulate in them will be dried. As a result, the unpleasant smell from the residues will disappear, it is said in a communiqué, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The works are carried out as part of a project implemented by SA Apa-Canal Chisinau and the Dutch company Tencate. The equipment will be fixed by July 20, when a group of Dutch experts will come to Chisinau to launch the project. The project aimed at removing the unpleasant smell at the treatment station was initiated in 2008. In October, SA Apa-Canal Chisinau and the Dutch company signed a cooperation contract. In May, the municipal authorities allocated 4 million lei for purchasing the necessary equipment. Recently, the City Hall resumed the talks with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) over the carrying out of the feasibility study of the work of SA Apa-Canal Chisinau. The given study would simplify access to the European funds for reconstructing and developing the company, including the water treatment station. The EBRD gave a preliminary consent to a 3-million-euro grant, the communiqué says.
