MPs will return to repaired building of Parliament by this yearend

The lawmakers will resume holding the sittings in the Parliament Building by the end of this year, Speaker Igor Corman told a news conference on Monday. He informed that the financial resources earmarked for repairing the building were optimized, but not to the detriment of quality, IPN reports.

“We cannot allocate more money, but also cannot diminish the quality of works as the Parliament Building is a state symbol,” said the Head of Parliament.

Igor Corman also said that a working group identified solutions so as to make sure that the MPs return to the repaired building by this yearend. Better conditions will be created for the journalists, especially cameramen, who will be able to film from the front too.

The Parliament Building and the President Office were devastated in 2009, during the mass protests against the results of the April 5 parliamentary elections. The Parliament Building was 70% repaired.
