Parliament adopted a bill to abolish the visa requirements for the citizens of 33 states in the first reading on March 1, IPN reports.
According to the informative note to the bill, the revenues collected into the state budget from visas will not diminish significantly as a result of such a decision because the number of citizens from these states who travel to Moldova is low.
Liberal MP Roman Botan said the National Anticorruption Center, in its appraisal, identified a number of risks in this bill as some of the states on this list record high levels of terrorism and small security levels.
Of the 33 states, seven abolished the visa requirements for Moldovan citizens. These are Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Micronesia, Panama, Peru, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Samoa.
