MPs to vote with stamp in presidential elections

The lawmakers will vote with a stamp in the March 16 elections, the special commission for the organization of the elections decided Wednesday, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The MPs can vote against by crossing the name of the candidate and for by putting the stamp “Voted 2012 President of Moldova” in the circle drawn on the right side of the name of the candidate,” said the commission’s chairman Tudor Deliu. He stressed that the stamp is needed as the laws says the lawmakers cross the name of the candidate against which they vote with a pen. As one candidate runs in the March 16 elections, difference should be made between those who voted in favor and those who voted against. The MPs will enter the polling booth by one. They are not allowed to show how they voted or to take the ballots out of the set perimeter. The voting procedure will last for at most two hours. The ballots that will be put in the ballot box uncrossed or unstamped or those that will contain other names in addition to the indicated one will not be considered valid. The presidential elections will take place on March 16. The commission registered only one candidate, who was fielded by the ruling alliance – the chairman of the Supreme Council of Magistrates Nicolae Timofti.
