The MPs of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” ask to convoke the Supreme Security Council to discuss the kidnapping of Ukrainian judge Nicolae Ceaus. According to the MPs, it is regrettable that citizens are kidnapped in the middle of the day in 2021. For their part, the MPs of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” reject the idea that Nicolae Ceauș was kidnapped by order of the Ukrainian authorities as Kiev wants Ceaus to be extradited from Moldova by legal ways, IPN reports.
PAS MP Oazu Nantoi said coordination between the Moldovan and Ukrainian authorities in the case of Nicolae Ceaus is excluded. The Supreme Court of Justice was to pronounce its final decision on Ceaus’ request for political asylum i\n the nearest future and this would have enabled the Ukrainian authorities to ask for his extradition.
“The Ukrainian state is interested in his extradition by legal ways. If he was kidnapped, he, as a judge, would win at the ECHR as his rights were violated. The Ukrainian state does not want such a development. The Ukrainian state could wait until the Supreme Court of Justice passed its judgment and then ask for his extradition by legal ways,” PAS MP Oazu Nantoi stated in the program “Expertise Hour” on JurnalTV channel.
The MPs of the PPPDA noted the Supreme Security Council should come together and discuss this issue so as to dispel suspicions about the involvement of Moldovan institutions in this case.
“It is sad that after so many efforts, we continue to witness kidnappings on the street even if the persons are suspected of illegalities. President Maia Sandu should convoke the Supreme Security Council as this consists of all the decision makers and this should discuss the issue,” said PPPDA MP Inga Grigoriu.
Ukrainian judge Nicolae Ceas, who was caught in Ukraine with US$150,000 bribe, was kidnapped in central Chisinau on April 3. According to Minister of Home Affairs Pavel Voicu, a person was arrested in this case and they suspect the offense was committed by foreigners who crossed the state border with Ukraine.
