MPs Iurie Reniță and Octavian Țîcu, with the latter running for President in the upcoming elections, said they possess new evidence of “the involvement of Igor Dodon’ Socialists in the Bahamas operation. According to them, it is a scheme by which the Kremlin financed the Party of Socialists in 2016. Moreover, the Bahamas case is a clear proof of the hybrid war waged by Russia against the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.
“As you know, Moscow in 2016 decided to finance the PSRM through the Bahamas. Today we present exclusive documents. Until now we presented somehow fragmentary incontestable proofs that represent a sufficient ground and reasonable suspicions for starting criminal cases, today we will provide all the documents confirming the effective involvement of Socialist heavyweights in the operation to launder money and finance the election campaign of Igor Dodon in 2016,” PPPDA MP Iurie Reniță told a news conference.
According to the MP, the document that shows that the PSRM laundered €1.5 million through the “Bahamas” branch is a contract between an Ltd based in Bahamas and “Exclusiv Media” SRL, which was founded by the leader of the parliamentary group of the PSRM Corneliu Furculiță”. According to him, the latter borrowed €1.5 million from the Ltd based in Bahamas. This loan was not indicated in the Socialist MP’s property statement.
Iurie Reniță said all the documents are at the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and it’s strange that the institution, possessing such incontestable evidence, didn’t take steps to investigate the involved persons, but limited itself to several explanations that came from the National Integrity Authority. The law enforcement agencies didn’t investigate all the Socialists involved in this money laundering operation.
Unaffiliated MP Octavian Țîcu said the Bahamas case is one of the multiple cases that characterize the political system in the Republic of Moldova. This case reveals two aspects that are important for understanding the future. The first aspect is the influence exerted by the security service of the Russian Federation and the Kremlin in general on the Republic of Moldova through exponents who now represent the interests of this state in Moldova and through different agents present in different political parties, including in the composition of the ACUM Bloc.
The second aspect shows thet this system is like an octopus that attracts discredited persons to the government under the protection shield. The current political system can be reformed only by reintegration with Romania and by ensuring a legal order and security system controlled by NATO. The candidate noted he decided to take part in the presidential race in order to offer the citizens an alternative to what’s there in the Republic of Moldova.
