MPs of government coalition about prospects of Gaburici Government

Democratic lawmaker Sergiu Sarbu expressed his optimism about the prospects of the Gaburici Government, while Liberal-Democratic MP Valeriu Ghiletski is not so confident of its chances of being successful for the reason that the new Cabinet does not enjoy majority political support. The two MPs of the government coalition stated their opinions in a special edition on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Sergiu Sarbu considers the PCRM will continue to support the government coalition and will vote bills alongside it. “I didn’t see the Communists opposing somehow the European integration process. The European integration is the major goal of the government program of the ruling alliance. That’s why I hope that they will continue to vote for the major bills. Igor Dodon was earlier my party mate and he was pro-European, as I am. Maybe in two-three years he will change his position and, as the PCRM, will vote together with us the pro-European bills,” he stated.

The Democratic MP agreed that the new Cabinet has to work in a very difficult period. “We have to work a lot, but our Government is receptive and efficient. Its task is to fight crime and corruption, stabilize the economy and strengthen society. But the most important objective is to regain the people’s confidence,” he stated.

On the other hand, Valeriu Ghiletski is skeptical about the current Government’s ability to achieve all the set objectives. “I’m optimistic, but I’m realistic too. The goal of the current government to obtain the status of candidate for accession to the EU is an ambitious one. The Filat and Leanca Governments achieved many results in the European integration process. It will be much harder for the current Government to do the same as it is a minority one and does not enjoy majority political support. In the current formula, the Gaburici Government will not manage to do everything it intends to. It is important not to allow regression. We must move on, even at a slow pace. Anyway, I consider that a majority pro-European coalition can be yet formed and it will assist the current Cabinet in implementing reforms and in the European integration process,” he stated.
