MPs join National Volunteer Week

Today Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu put pavement on a sidewalk near the Career Resource Center in the suburban town of Vadul lui Voda as MPs Corina Fusu and Liliana Palihovici made pies for children with disabilities to mark the start of the 2011 National Volunteer Week in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. As Marian Lupu paved the sidewalk, he told reporters that engaging in volunteer work was a noble thing to do, in addition to physical exercise being very useful. Corina Fusu and Liliana Palihovici said cooking was always a satisfaction for them, especially since the pies they were making were destined for the youth with special needs. “We will always be happy to give a hand when there is need”, said Liliana Palihovici. Antonita Fonari, head of the NGO “Youth for the Right to Live”, said that Lupu, Fusu and Palihovici were among the 12 MPs who accepted to participate in the 2011 Volunteer Week events. On Saturday, volunteers from the NGO Carlux will clean up around the Tuberculosis Hospital. Additionally, the “Youth for the Right to Live” will mobilize social networks users to join the activities.
