Socialist MP Ion Ceban and MP of the Bloc ACUM Igor Munteanu stated differing opinions as to how the impossibility of forming a parliamentary majority can be overcome. One said an official agreement on an eventual government coalition should be reached, while the other one noted the Parliament’s work should be resumed. The issue was developed in the talk show “In Depth” on ProTV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
Ion Ceban said that to break the political stalemate, the Bloc ACUM should abandon its rigid position aimed at obtaining the posts of Parliament Speaker and Prime Minister and the administration of all the ministries and at making the Socialists support the package of laws propose by the Bloc. A parliamentary majority is needed to break the deadlock.
“It is simple. We should agree the laws we will vote together. The Socialist parliaments group will be permitted to fill the post of Parliament Speaker and to control the ministries we want in order to strengthen the President’s powers, while ACUM will hold the post of Prime Minister and will control the rest of the ministries. We didn’t include proposals that would go against a particular person or ethnic group,” stated Ion Ceban.
For his part, Igor Munteanu said the only solution that can help move on is for ACUM and the PSRM to discuss how to unblock the Parliament’s work by resuming the suspended sitting, constituting the Standing Bureau and the parliamentary commissions and discussing solutions to elect the Speaker.
According to him, a coalition is not mandatory for constituting the Standing Bureau and the parliamentary commissions as these bodies consist of MPs fielded by parliamentary groups, while the groups were created long ago. “We stick to our principles because we want the laws we presented as important for unblocking and de-oligarchizing the state to be voted with the assistance of a particular majority in Parliament. For the purpose, we can hybridize their social package with our anti-oligarchic package,” stated the MP.
Both Ion Ceban and Igor Munteanu said the post of Parliament Speaker should be held namely by the entity they represent.
