MPs institute commemorative cross for participants in Nistru war
The lawmakers voted in favor of instituting the commemorative cross “Participant in the war for defending Moldova’s integrity and independence (1991-1992)”. The award will be given to about 28,000 participants on the occasion of 20 years of the start of the military operations on the Nistru River, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta said Sunday in Parliament that the cross will be awarded to servicemen and military men in reserve involved in the war, volunteers and employees of the internal affairs bodies, state security bodies and of the penitentiary system serving for military units and special forces ready for battle.
The commemorative cross is made from gray tomback. It represents a cross with a medallion in the center that is framed by a crown of oak tree. It also includes Moldova’s coat of arms.
The cost of the project is over 5 million lei.
On March 2, it is 20 years of the start of the Nistru war.
