Some of the MPs consider the status of observe at the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) obtained by Moldova does not have legal substance. Others consider this status will help normalize the economic relations with the Russian Federation. The issue was developed in the talk show “Politics of Natalia Morari” on TV8 channel, IPN reports.
Liberal MP Lilian Carp said the status of observer does not have legal substance because Moldova’s Constitution clearly provides that Parliament adopts the foreign policy of the country, while the acts signed by the Head of State should be ratified by Parliament. “This agreement signed by Dodon in Sochi is nothing but a paper that can be put in a frame and kept home,” noted the MP.
Socialist MP Vladimir Golovatiuc said the obtaining of the status of observer at the EEU enables Moldova to attend and address questions as part of this forum. This status will contribute to normalizing the economic relations with Russia.
As regards the ratification by Parliament of the agreement signed in Sochi, the Socialist MP said this will be ratified after the parliamentary elections where the Party of Socialists would gain a majority of seats.
On May 14, the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council decided to offer Moldova the status of observer at the Eurasian Economic Union. The decision was taken unanimously by the heads of the EEU partner states. The meeting involved President Igor Dodon.
