MPs finalize structure of legislature

The parliamentary groups will come together for a new sitting on Thursday. The leaders of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) announced that the the agenda includes the election of the members of the Standing Bureau, of the deputy speakers and chairpersons of the permanent parliamentary commissions, Info-Prim Neo reports. After the consultations held by the AEI, Speaker Mihai Ghimpu said that one post of deputy speaker will belong to the Communists Party. “The Communists will also hold the position of chairperson of four permanent commission of the nine that will be created,” Ghimpu said. MP Vladimir Turcan said that the parliamentary group of the PCRM will take part in the sitting, but will not accept the posts offered by the AEI. According to Turcan, the Communists Party will not field candidates for deputy speaker, but will participate in the formation of the Standing Bureau. The members of the AEI and of the parliamentary group of the PCRM came to the Palace of the Republic one hour before the start of the sitting. They held separate meetings. The next sitting of the Parliament could take place on Friday, September 11. The AMN leader Serafim Urecheanu said earlier that they would like the Parliament to convene on Thursdays and Fridays, as until present.
