MPs could work on Saturday too to cope with agenda

Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu, after the July 19 meeting of the Standing Bureau, said the legislative body will make effort to close the plenary sittings this week. Parliament will sit on Thursday and Friday and on Saturday, if necessary, so as to cope with the agenda set by the Bureau, IPN reports.

Andrian Candu said among the bills that are to be adopted by the end of the current session are the draft law to change the electoral system, bills concerning the control bodies and control procedures, meal vouchers, energy system, etc. “We have an agenda full of interesting bills that we are to debate and pass in Parliament. Tomorrow’s agenda includes the questioning of the administration of the Ministry of Education concerning the Baccalaureate exams. We want to see what problems are encountered in this regard and possibly to come up with solutions,” stated the Speaker.

Asked if the bill to replace the electoral system includes the recommendations of the Venice Commission, Andrian Candu said the new draft law envisions all the solutions needed to deal with the matters invoked by the Commission.
