MPs could postpone their vacation to handle drought and heat wave consequences
A group of MPs asked for an extraordinary sitting of the Parliament, due to the crisis situation occurred in Moldova because of the drought and hot weather. A request in this respect was presented to Speaker Marian Lupu on Thursday, July 26.
The authors say that the Parliament has the obligation to examine the crisis situations in the country in order to find the necessary measures for alleviating the negative consequences.
In this respect, the MPs proposed to convene extraordinary sittings in the period from August 1 to 10. During this period the MPs would examine the report of the Government on the situation in agriculture occurred because of the drought and hot weather and the steps taken to offset the consequences. Also, the MPs propose to create a joint Parliament-Government Committee in order to prevent and attenuate the effects of the drought and of the hot weather. The MPs are willing to pass a decision on the emergency measures for attenuating the negative consequences generated by the natural disaster this year.
The request was signed by 35 opposition MPs.
